Have just left Deloitte where I spent 2 fairly mediocre years. Working for startups ,admittedly sometimes within bigger companies like Vodafone with Vizzavi, for the last 10 years an accountancy firm is somewhat constraining. I felt like a kid looking through the window of a sweet shop watching the web mature from a publishing extension where just getting on the net was a badge of honour to a mature platform for services, socialising and information.
Any rate here is my 5 step guide to rehabilitation
(A personal response to move from the mundane and pointless or to misquote Macbeth "full of sound and fury but signifying nothing") to the real
1. Give up alcohol
Alcohol is the key social reward reject it and you start to challenge the value structure
2. Avoid terminal complexity
Start to explain not obfuscate - simplicity and meaning are the key.
3. Question the value of your work continually
Ensure you are adding value - not just producing slideware. This would stop at least 50% of activity .
4. Do not think you are radical if you have a checked shirt
Personal grip about being labelled "trendy" for wearing a stripey shirt. Life just has to be richer than this
5. Do
This a state of being question. It really is better to do
